The 555 Penn parking garage is limited to a small number of handicap accessible parking spaces. To request an accessible parking spot, please email SAISAlumniEvents@jhu.edu in advance of the event. 555 Penn guest and attendee parking is available in the below nearby garages.

Metro Train:

555 Penn is accessible via the following Metro stations:

— Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter on the Green and Yellow lines (0.2 miles, 4-minute walk)

Judiciary Square on the Red line (0.4 miles, 7-minute walk)

 

Airports:

Ronald Regan National Airport (DCS) (5 miles, 10-minute drive)

— Take the Yellow line to Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter station towards Mt. Vernon Square

Dulles International Airport (IAD) (30 miles, 40-minute drive)

— Take the Silver line (towards Largo) to L’Enfant Plaza

— Transfer to the Yellow towards Mt. Vernon Square

Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) (35 miles, 45-minute drive)

— Take Amtrak or MARC Train to Washington D.C. to Union Station (WAS)

—  Drive from Union Station to 555 Penn (1.5 miles, 10-minute drive)

Drop-Off:

The main entrance to the building is on Pennsylvania Avenue (front). All entrances are handicap accessible.

 Rideshare (Uber/Lyft/Taxi)

— We recommend using the Capital Grille as a pickup/drop off location for rideshare. It is just across the street and can be easier for rideshare services to locate you there. Rideshares are in high demand, so we also recommend scheduling ahead.

 JHU DC Shuttle

— SAIS DC offers a shuttle service to and from 555 Penn. Download the TripShot app to get immediate updates on shuttle location. You can also view the route and times online here. Shuttle operations are Monday - Friday only.

— Pick up stops are located at Metro Center, Archives, 555 Penn, and Union Station.

General Accessibility

All areas of the 555 Penn building are accessible by elevator. The 555 Penn parking garage has accessible parking spaces as well. To request an accessible parking spot, please email SAISAlumniEvents@jhu.edu in advance.

Lactation Rooms

555 Penn has three lactation rooms available for those needing to express milk. Rooms 277, 377, and 570 are designated as lactation rooms and should be used for lactation purposes only. All three rooms are located in areas that are accessible to students and guests. Each room is equipped with a small refrigerator, table, chair, sink, and hospital-grade pump.

No special process is required to use the lactation rooms and they are available on a first come first served basis. Before using the room, please remember to lock it from the inside. We ask that all users clean up after themselves and dispose of any trash/recycling in the proper receptacle before leaving the room.

Tranquility Rooms

As one of the building amenities, 555 Penn provides three tranquility rooms. The room locations are 226, 376, and 571. You do not need to reserve the rooms in order to use.

Tranquility rooms are designed for students, faculty, staff, and guests to have a private space for tranquility and rejuvenation, which can help reduce stress. Students, faculty, staff, and visitors are welcome to spend a few minutes inside meditating, listening to music with headphones, doing a breathing exercise, or simply having a quiet moment to themselves.

 

Community Guidelines:

1.     Tranquility rooms are open to those of any belief system and are not for the exclusive use of any faith or belief system.

2.     Treat other tranquility room users’ faith or belief system with respect and do not interfere with their use of the space.

3.     No eating or drinking.

4.     Please be mindful of volume while using the tranquility rooms. Please make sure all phones are on vibrate only before entering,

6.     Although they are welcome, objects such as sacred texts, icons, prayer beads, and statues that are associated with a particular faith or tradition should not be stored in the tranquility room and must be removed after each visit.

7.     Tranquility rooms are for individual use and not the appropriate venue for faith-based gatherings or celebrations.

8.     Tranquility rooms should not be used for private conversations, meetings, or study space.

9.     Do not remove anything from the tranquility rooms.

10.  When exiting the tranquility rooms please make sure to leave the room in the same state you found it. Towels, mats, and other items should be put back in the proper places and any trash should be properly disposed of.
